Parties are fun, but the post-party cleanup can be overwhelming. However, with proper planning and the right tricks, you can do it in no time. Before you begin the process, gather all the cleaning products and tools needed for the job. Avoid multitasking and focus on doing one thing at a time, so you don’t end up taking too much time. Here are a few after-party cleaning tips you should consider.
Load the dishwasher
Once all your guests leave, gather all the dishes in one place and load them into the dishwasher. If you intend to clean them by hand, consider rinsing and soaking them in a soapy water solution so that washing them the next day is easier.
Get rid of all the disposables
After the party, you’ll most likely find a lot of empty bottles and disposable plates, glasses, and spoons. Put all the disposables in a trash bag and use a sturdy bag for the recyclables. Consider rounding up garbage by moving from table to table disposing of rubbish to make the space neater. Get rid of any leftovers and if some can be reused, transfer them to air-tight containers and freeze for later. This eases the cleaning process.
Clean any sticky stains
After partying, there’s bound to be stains around your home. Leaving them overnight can make them harden, while some furniture may discolor from prolonged spills exposure. Using an all-purpose cleaner and a piece of cloth, spot cleans the stains with quick wipe downs.
Don’t leave any crumbs
Leaving food and crumbs on kitchen tops over time attracts cockroaches, ants, and other pests. To avoid this, use a dust buster, a handheld brush, or a piece of cloth and a dustpan to clean. Don’t forget to check the tables and other surfaces for food bits and cramps that may have fallen off the plate.
Declutter and clean the kitchen
After transferring the dishes into the dishwasher, there may be other things cluttering the kitchen surfaces. Put them back in their place so you can efficiently clean the countertops and other surfaces used for the party. With a soapy, dump scrubber, scrub the surfaces and wipe over with a clean, wet cloth, then dry the surfaces with paper towels. Clean the kitchen appliances and mop the floors.
Tidy up the living area
When hosting a party, you may create additional seating to cater to all your guests. You may have to create more space for people to dance and freely move around. This results in moving furniture back and forth, messing up the entire area. Start by decluttering your living room so that you can move everything back to its original position, then clean.
Clean one room at a time
Post-party cleaning is more manageable when done a room at a time. You can vacuum or sweep and mop all the rooms or those that need cleaning. Clean the bathrooms and consider deep cleaning the toilets, sinks, and wipe the areas surrounding the sinks.
Endnote
After-party cleaning can be challenging, especially if you don’t have a plan and the necessary tools and products. Consider using the above tips for your next post-party home cleaning.
