Review: 100 Family Adventures

If you’re going to buy one book today, make it 100 Family Adventures. We read it, we made notes, and we loved it. This book is essentially a bucket list of things to do with the entire family before everyone has grown up and moved on, and some of the ideas inside are ones you’d have never even thought about doing before.

Published by Frances Lincoln and written by Tim and Kerry Meek with help from their daughters Amy and Ella, 100 Family Adventures is full to the brim of original and classic ideas to do as a family, from watching deer rutting to spending the night in a log cabin. As the title implies, there are 100 activities included, with some that can be achieved close to home, and others that you can turn into a mini-holiday. Whether they’re nearby or further away from home, you’ll be sure to enjoy it as much as we have.

While we haven’t been able to try some many of the activities due to the appalling weather we have been having lately, we’ve gone through the book and circled some of the ones that we would love to have a go at when the opportunity arises. Some of them are simpler than others – for example, one of them is visiting a landmark, while others include canoeing down a river.

Each page includes information about the activity, tips and advice, as well as an ‘Amy Says’ text box and a joke from Ella. There are also some educational and often entertaining ‘Did You Know?’ boxes too.
