Review: Beta Highchair from Hauck

Beta

The Beta Hauck highchair is possibly one of the nicest highchairs we’ve ever used. Not only does it grow with your child, seating them from six months onwards, but its traditional look is one that many highchairs lack nowadays. It doesn’t hold the bulky plastic appearance that so many others do; in fact, it’s the complete opposite, since it’s made only from sustainably managed European beech wood. It’s extremely safe and stable, thanks to the wheels that attach onto the feet of it. The wheels not only help stability but mean you’re able to conveniently move it around as you wish, without having to pick the whole thing up off of the floor.

9 month old Isobel was able to sit in the chair comfortably, and she seemed to love it. She never stopped smiling and laughing the whole way through, and could be in the chair for a relative period of time without getting uncomfortable, due to the seat and back cushions which made seating more comfortable. Almost 2 year old Libby also managed to fit into it, as we found out when she decided she wanted to climb into it after seeing Bel’s reaction. It really does grow with your child, as it can hold anyone, even an adult, weighing up to 90 kilos.

It’s lower than the height of an average table, so might not be suitable for a baby like Bel to sit at the table as the seat will be too low even at its tallest height, but older children and adults will find it the perfect height.  The belt is a lap belt rather than the usual five-point due to the back of the chair being lower than conventional highchairs.

The Beta is a great design.  As well as being simple to manoevre, light and straight-forward to put together, it is also easily cleanable.  It comes with two different tables; one larger one that will be useful when sitting away from a main table, and another slightly smaller one that will still keep Baby strapped in, but allows them to use the counter as their main food support.

The Beta Hauck highchair has an RRP of £79.99 and is available from all good retailers including Amazon , or find your local stockist from www.hauckuk.com.
