With winter on its way and the temperatures taking a noticeable drop, our thoughts have turned to making sure our wardrobes are ready for the change in weather. It’s a good idea to dedicate a day to sorting through what you have and getting yourself ready for a new season before it really kicks in. Don’t leave it too late to get properly organised! We’ve popped some tips below to help you get your wardrobe ready for the winter.
First things first, you need to spend some time going through your wardrobe to organise what you have and clear out what you don’t need anymore. You might even find some things you had forgotten about, which is easily done as we hide things at the back of our wardrobes quite frequently! Set aside a few hours or a day to take everything out and rearrange things in a way you can easily reach for your winter things. Pack away summer clothes – vacuum bags are a great way to store things you don’t need – and then have anything you’re planning on wearing readily available.
Identify what’s missing
Once you’ve been through and decluttered your wardrobe, you can easily identify what might be missing. It could be that you need an updated winter coat, or some new boots. Whatever it is, make a list to see what you think you might need to take you through this winter. Whilst looking at trends can help you find some inspiration, try to focus on purchasing things that will last longer than a season. A classic style coat or shoe will last you longer and you’ll be able to mix and match it with other items in your wardrobe easily, for many seasons going forward.
With so many offers on throughout the autumn, it’s always worth shopping around to find some good deals and make the most of any promotional codes, especially as Black Friday rolls around. Ensure you stick to your list, as it’s very easy to get carried away with all those savings you think you’re making. The last thing you want to do is refill your wardrobe with items you’re not going to wear in a few months’ time, and for them to get lost in the back of your wardrobe.
Mix things up
You don’t have to shop around to update your current wardrobe, sometimes getting creative and playing around with what you already have can be enough to help create some new looks for the winter. Try pairing a roll neck jumper with some dresses, and layer them up to make them more appropriate for the colder weather. Try pairing some different textures together and playing around with different shapes. Simple things, such as pairing an oversized dress with a statement belt that cinches in your waist, can help to create a new silhouette and refresh your look.
