South Beach – Big!
It is not only very big, it is also very exciting with plenty of things to see and do. You must go and see the South Beach to understand why it has been rated as one of the best beaches in the world. The beach is very clean, so are the turquoise waters. Although this beach is very busy, receiving millions of visitors every year, there is a lot of room for everyone. Food carts scattered at different positions on the beach will help keep you and the children well sated throughout the day. Things you can do include swimming in the beautiful waters, rolling in the warm sand or go play beach volleyball. You can do so many things here.
This is a free beach. Imagine, you do not pay a fee to enjoy yourself, well, apart from the parking fee.
Where you exactly want to be is the Crandon Park, which is an expansive beach itself found on the Key Biscayne Island of Miami Keys and not the Florida Keys. There are a lot of things to see and do on this beach. From water sports to beach volleyball, kayaking, sailing, water boarding and others, you will not spend on single boring moment on this beach. There is a lot of wildlife for kids to interact with and learn a few things. Flamingos, iguanas and parrots are in plenty here. For food, there are ice cream and pizza shops where you can eat to your heart’s fill.
Fort Lauderdale Beach
This is the main Beach in Fort Lauderdale that is located on the A1A Drive. Note that there are many beaches in this area, but this one is the biggest. If you are looking for a beach that is popular yet at the same time is not too crowded, then Fort Lauderdale is perfect for you. Right on the water front, there are popular hotels where you can stay. The sand and sun is great. Do make sure you head there if you would love some small town feel of a beach. There are enough joints for food and entertainment to keep everyone occupied. You will pay for parking.
John Pennekamp State Park Beach
The main reason that you will be going here will be to get to the Pennekamp coral reef park, which is the only one of its kind in the entire USA. Here, you will interact with some of the best, rare as well as popular aquatic animals. There are so many water activities to do on this beach which include canoeing, kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving and swimming to name but just a few of them. If you do not want to get into the underwater coral reef park; there is a huge aquarium in the Visitor Center to enjoy unadulterated views of the marine creatures. You will also be able to shelter from the sunshine.
This is one of the busiest beaches in South Florida, but do not let that turn you off because there are so many things to see, do and enjoy on this beach. Firstly, you can hire bikes, even for the kids and the cycle on the promenade. Good way to work out and start your vacation or healthy and fresh. You can have your own bike as well. You can also just laze about and enjoy the warm sands of the beach as you read a book, sleep or just talk. With a long line of restaurants, you shall not be wanting for food and if the sun sucks too much water from your body, you can refresh at the juice stands. Your children can have fun in one of the two playgrounds on the beach. Later in the day, you can take a trolley ride to go see the downtown and then board the same trolley to the beach again. You will access this beach free of charge, but will have to pay for parking.
