There seems no other way to begin this post than with a great ‘phew!’ and a mop of the brow. It seems more like a year and a day than the eight days it actually is since we set off on our journey. After six days on the road where we drove through ten countries and stayed over in five, we finally made it to our final and furthest destination of Halkidiki in Greece.
I’ll be writing about our journey in more detail soon but for now, here is a quick round up of our week’s travels in pics so get ready to pin away:
Our trip began with a very early morning start on Mother’s Day where we all piled ourselves and our belongings into our minibus and set off for the Eurotunnel…

After a very long day of travelling we finally arrived at our base in Germany after darkness had fallen and bedtimes had long passed. We then hit the road early the following morning to head for Slovenia.
We arrived with enough daylight left to allow us to visit Lake Bled…

…where we couldn’t resist a family photo (less the three children that didn’t accompany us on this trip, of course) taken in front of this…

…which was still gorgeous despite the scaffolding…

We said goodbye to Slovenia early on Tuesday to make our way to our next stop and arrived in Croatia with enough time to pitch our tents on the Adriatic coast…

We still had time to have a play on the beach…

…then admire the view…

…before enjoying dinner by the sea as the sun went down…

On Wednesday we packed up and headed off early to reach that day’s base in Montenegro. By the time we had set up there we didn’t have much time left for exploring the area so got ourselves fed and bedded down for the night.

The weather forecast did not lie and the severe wind warnings were not joking. It was a blustery night indeed and there was some concern that our tents might not withstand the winds.
They did…

Thursday was another early morning start for us as we packed up and headed off for a spot more beach camping at our next destination – Albania. We set up the tents…

…where we could enjoy the view…

…of this…

We would be saying goodbye to our Albanian beach camp early on Friday and headed off to the south of the country along rocky mountain roads…

…and traffic jams…

…to reach the organic farm we would be staying at for the night.

We met lambs…

…and goats…

…and horses…

Then we sat down to a delicious, home-grown dinner…

Before cosying down in these lovely beds…

…in these rustic bungalow huts.

After a hearty breakfast we set off and after six days of travels we finally reached Greece…

A few hours more driving and we would finally reach our home for the next five weeks…

…which provides us with the most wonderful views…

…of this…

Amazing journey you have here. I wonder how you could handle 10 kids at the same time? Aren’t they active?
They aren’t all ten 2-year-olds which would be a challenge but different ages and stages and some more active/capable/independent than others according to their ages and abilities.
I’ve been looking at your photos on social media with interest and jealousy. What amazing memories you are making x
What an incredible adventure! And your base in Greece looks amazing. I’m looking forward to seeing more.
Thanks, Nell. This villa is absolutely gorgeous. We’ll be posting a video tour of it soon so do look out for it.
