Large Family of the Week – The Plappert Family!

Plappert Family

This week’s Large Family of the Week is the Plappert family from Southend, Essex in England. Kelly and Shawn have 6 children. Here is Kelly to tell us all about them:

Introduce us to your family (names and ages & tell us a bit about yourselves):

Hello!

First of all there is myself, Kelly, and my husband Shawn. We are both 38 and my husband has his own double glazing company so works long hours.

There’s Nicole who is nearly 15, beautiful and very scatty ( the scatty bit comes from me so I can’t moan too much!).

Ben is 12 and is a computer geek, that’s why he often gets called freak pod or various other strange names! Nicole and Ben are from a previous relationship but my husband has been there for them since we got together 8 years ago, and thinks of them as his own.

Then we have Jacob who is 6, loving and confident and just started losing his baby teeth.

Lillie-rose is 4 and has just started school and loves it. She’s a whirlwind and somehow ends up breaking anything and everything! She’s loving and funny.

Then we have Maisie who is nearly three and is a funny thing, and copies everything that Lillie-rose does, good or bad.

Finally there is Isaac who is nearly one! Totally a mummy’s boy, and loves his cuddles! We enjoy camping and caravan holidays, swimming, getting out and about in fresh air and doing family stuff at home.

Do you consider your family to be large?

If not, what do you think is the magic number which turns an average sized family into a large one? I do think our family is quite large but it’s perfect for us.

Did you ever think you would have a large family?

I thought I would have 2 or three children, but that’s before I met my wonderful husband and having babies is just so amazing!

What is your best moneysaving tip?

Meal planning!! And stocking up on things When they are on special offer in supermarket.

What is your best tip for organisation?

I could do with a hand with that one! I get up before everyone else to get a start on everything, so am up by 5.30am. Never put off things or it takes ages to catch up again!

What is your favourite recipe?

We love stew and pasta dishes.

Do you cook the same meal for everyone or cater for different tastes?

We all have the same although Nicole can be a bit fussy about some meat so she just has extra vegetables or something instead of the meat.

What is the best thing about having a large family?

It’s never boring and there’s always someone to keep you busy, give you a cuddle or just to have fun with. I love seeing all the kids playing together.

And what is the most difficult?

Finding the time to get stuff done in the house is difficult, but housework is second to time with my family, they grow up too quickly!

If you could offer one piece of advice to parents, what would it be?

Patience! It may take ten minutes for a child to describe something that could only be done in a few seconds and isn’t that interesting, but it’s really important and interesting to them!

Don’t you have a television?

Oh we have quite a few but like to get to bed early!

Do you know what causes it?

Yep πŸ™‚

And finally, will you have any more children?!

Never say never, although I think am getting a bit old to have more kids now. I won’t ever get over being broody as love being pregnant and having children.
