Ruffle Flower Headband Tutorial

Sewing

There’s something so cute about seeing a little baby with a big ruffle flower on her head.

Look, I’ll show you.

Cute…

Cute…

…Cu… Cait…

Cut about 30, 2″ circles of fabric…

… and two circles of felt cut to the size of flower you want…

Take one of your circles and fold like so…

… fold again, like so…

… then fold again, like so… and then scrunch…

Take your hot glue gun and glue the point of your folded circle…

… then stick it to the centre of one of your felt circles…

Repeat the folding of your next circle then stick it onto the felt circle close to the first…

Keep folding and sticking your circles of fabric close to each other, working your way outwards…

… until your felt circle is completely covered and your ruffle flower looks something like this…
Cut a length of fold over elastic long enough to fit around your baby’s head with a little stretching (approximately 12″ for 0-6 month old babies and 15″ for 6-12 month olds).  Stitch the ends together to make a headband.
Hot glue the back of your flower and place your headband face side down onto it, pressing firmly…
Hot glue the second circle of felt to cover…
And voila!  Your ruffle headband is complete!

  1. That Is so clever and the ruffles do beautiful. How I wish I had the patience to try them. I did once start makIng hair clips etc but after burning my fingers one too many times with the glue gun I decided my patience wasn't cut on for crafts.

  2. @SarraHudson: How did it turn out? I hope the instructions were clear enough.

@Sara: Yep, the glue gun can be brutal!
