Over the last few years it has become apparent that technology is going to play a big part in our children’s education. It’s no longer just a helping hand for older children, but is instead something that will influence kids of all ages in their learning. We don’t think this is a bad thing, but we do sometimes struggle finding apps for young children that do the job of teaching the information without overwhelming them.
One app that we have been using recently is the Pacca Alpaca Basic Language Learning and Educational Games for Children. It teaches children as young as 2 how to count and learn their shapes and colours in a fun way. The best part may be that it is not exclusive to English-speakers as there is a wide variety of languages to choose from.
The game takes place in Australia and kids can travel around collecting souvenirs and playing games that teach them the information. For example in one of the mini-games you got to place items on a barbeque while the narrator counted along up to five with you. You have the option to replay the mini-games as many times as you’d like and there is no rush to move on to the next one like some apps.
Controlling the character and choosing the games was extremely easy as all you had to do was touch the screen. There was no awkward moving about of arrow keys to move the alpaca which we found handy as children who are learning their shapes can’t be expected to perfectly manoeuvre an object. We saw that they found it much easier to simply tap on what they want to do.
The Pacca Alpaca Basic Language Learning and Educational Games for Children app is definitely worth buying if you have a child who is starting to learn their shapes, numbers and colours. It is an exceptionally low price to pay and perfect for when you need to keep your child entertained for a while safe in the knowledge that they are learning effectively while they play, whether it’s long car journeys or while you fold the laundry.
