Resuming the diet – Free Skinny Me continues

It’s the new year now and although I’ve already explained that I won’t be making any resolutions it’s time to face up to the fact that my epic quest to “Free Skinny Me” needs to resume.

I did say in my last “Free Skinny Me” update that I would be taking a break for Christmas.  Well, I did and the damage actually wasn’t too bad, considering.

Here are my results:

Resuming week’s result: Gained 1lb

Current weight: 12st 6lbs (174lbs)

Mini goal: To lose 19lbs by week 18

Starting weight: 12st 8lbs

Goal weight: 8st 11lbs (123lbs)

Total to lose: 50lbs

Total lost to date: 2lbs

A one pound gain over the festive period really isn’t anything to gripe about and I feel very okay with that.  But I really do need to give myself a kick and get into it once and for all.

As I can get more active now, having recovered well after the caesarean, I am toying with the idea of getting some kind of fitness equipment like an exercise bike or an elliptical.  Thinking about it, it would make more sense space-wise to go for a 2-In-1 Cycle Elliptical Trainer.  Does anyone have any recommendations for something effective yet not extortionately priced?

The jury is still out on getting the Wii Zumba.  Surely someone as terribly unco-ordinated as I am couldn’t possibly reap any rewards from it?  I still haven’t even seen what Zumba is all about but from what I can make out, you need some sense of rhythm and co-ordination.  I have neither.

As it’s a new year and a new beginning I would imagine the resolution-makers among you might be wanting to lose weight too?

If you are, why not join the quest to “Free Skinny Me!”?  You don’t need to be following Weight Watchers to do so and your weigh in day doesn’t have to be a Monday.  You can also grab the badge at the top of this post.
Rand put it on your blog if you like, then come back each Monday to report each week’s weigh in result in the comments section.

You can also write a post on your own blog and leave a link back to it in the comments below so we can visit and leave a message of encouragement or support. You can choose how much or little info to disclose.

You can follow my quest to “Free Skinny Me!” by subscribing to a full feed in your reader.  You can also chat with me throughout the week on Twitter  (click here or search for the handle “@largerfamily” and let me know if you are doing the quest so I can follow you back) and become a Facebook friend too.   Don’t forget that we now have our very own Healthy Living board in our new LFL Family Forums.

Report back next Monday for the results of our first week back on track.

  1. Well, here I am in my 5th (or is it 6th?) week of “free skinny me!” and I am pleased to report that I have lost 10 lbs. The truth of it is I wasn’t doing anything until 2 weeks ago, so I’m quite pleased with 10 lbs. I am not exercising on purpose, I’ve just cut my calories in half (from about 4,000 a day to 2,000 a day. I am nursing exclusively and that alone burns about 500 a day!) and eating the size portions I should eat. If I can lose weight with out “working out”, I’m there!

    Starting weight: 270 lbs
    Current weight: 260 lbs
Mini goal: lose 15 lbs by March 2 (12th anniversary)
Loss to date: 10 lbs of the 15
Ultimate goal: lose 70 lbs by my next pregnancy, for a weight of 200 lbs
Weight to still lose: 60 lbs

    I can do this!!!

  2. I’m on day 5 of my own personal Free Skinny Me. I’m down 6 lbs using the hCG diet. It worked so well last time I used it (until I got pregnant). Baby is now almost 1 yr old, so it’s time.

Jennifer, I’m so proud of you! Keep up the great work.
