Friday, sweet Friday. Why does it take you so long to come around? Not only does it take ages for Friday to show itself it’s seemed even longer this week thanks to the promise of the Bank Holiday weekend. A whole extra day with Mike home!
This week we have had an achievement of sorts.
In our third week of potty training, Paddy, the reluctant potty trainer finally seems to have cracked it!
Hoorah!!
We’ve had two whole days of no accidents, and I have barely needed to remind him to use the potty. Instead he has progressed to realising when he needs to use it and settles himself down!
I said it once and I’ll say it again – Hoorah!!
I did something I haven’t done for a while and baked. The chocolate chip cookies were so delicious I even ate one at 6.30 this morning. Yes, very wrong I know. But they were nice. I might even share the recipe with you next week. If you’re nice, that is.
Of course, it was our wedding anniversary on Wednesday. We didn’t do anything special apart from exchange cards which we always keep. Mike came home with flowers for me, roses and my favourites, lilies. Then we got the kids off to bed and vegged out chatting on the sofa while he massaged my legs for me. I don’t need fancy meals or celebrations. That was enough to make me happy and was so very appreciated.
The kids are still unable to control volume levels. I sometimes wonder that if we had six girls in a row rather than boys, would be be living in house of harmonious singing in rounds, of daisy chains and perfectly sweet manners rather than headlocks, yelling, screeching and furniture diving?
We had a storm yesterday evening for which the garden was visibly thankful. Everything looks so green and revived this morning. Magical!
Shortly before the boys’ bedtimes last night was a beautiful double rainbow. It was one moment in an exhausting day which I was thankful to have to just stop for a moment and look. It was beautiful. The picture just doesn’t do it justice.
So that’s my week all wrapped up.
How was yours?

I had "all girls" (4) for a many years and I will attest to the fact that it was much, much quieter- crazy in its own way, but quieter. My girls are grown and now we are pretty much all boys (3 of them)- even with "just 3" it is pretty much all "headlocks, yelling, screeching and furniture diving" like you wrote. Wonderful, but exhausting.
Happy Anniversary!
I had a run of girls and it was still noisy, lol!
Love the pic of the rainbows!
