As the temperatures begin to rise so do the bugs. Ants, mosquitoes, flies, spiders you name it, all try to make themselves welcome in your home during the summertime. Needless to say, this can be a nuisance.

You’re going to have to find ways to deal with this problem. Keeping your home bug-free in the summer is going to require you to have a proactive approach. A combination of methods is how you are going to deal with this issue.

Here’s a look at how you can keep your home bug-free throughout the summer

Seal All Entry Points

The first thing you’re going to need to do is to make sure you are sealing all the entry points to prevent bugs from entering your home. You must inspect your home for those entry points. You’re not going to find them without doing an inspection.

You may be surprised at those tiny little entrances that you find. There may be cracks in the foundation, and gaps around the windows and the doors that you may have not noticed before.

There may even be openings around utility pipes. You can seal all of those gaps with caulk and weather stripping.

Keep It Clean

One of the easiest ways to keep the bugs out is to make sure things are clean. Bugs are attracted to places where there is lots of food and water. If they can’t find these sources then they’ll move on.

You have to make sure you keep your home as clean as possible. Wipe down your kitchen counters regularly and also your dining areas as well.

Get rid of all the crumbs and spills that you can. If you have snacks that are left over, store them in airtight containers. If you fail to do these things, the bug invasion can get out of hand and then you have no choice but to call an exterminator to get the bugs out for you.

Control Moisture

Try to control moisture as much as you possibly can. Many bugs such as mosquitoes and cockroaches love when an environment is damp. You have to make sure that you fix any leaky pipes and faucets that you have as soon as possible.

This will chase the bugs away and prevent them from wanting to make a home in your home. You can use the dehumidifiers in your basement or any other damp areas of your home.

Keep everything well ventilated using exhaust fans if possible in bathrooms and the kitchen. You have to go above and beyond to keep humidity levels way down.

Get Outdoors Under Control

You have to get your yard under control as well. Otherwise, it’s going to become a breeding ground for bugs that will eventually make trails into your home. Keep your lawn mowed and trim your bushes as regularly as you can.

This will keep bugs away. Remove any standing water from gutters and bird baths if you have them to ensure that outdoor moisture is reduced and breeding sites are eliminated.
