5 New Big Sister Gifts

You recently found out that you’re expecting-congratulations! Amongst all of your preparation, you will want to consider how you can help your little girl understand that she is going to be a big sister, and a special gift may be just the thing. Take a look at our five favorite new big sister gifts!

1. Something Special for her Dress Up Dolls

Does she have a particular doll that she loves? Consider getting her something special to dress her doll in, such as these 18 inch doll clothes. You could even get her an adorable princess dress to match her doll! Show her how to dress her doll, explaining that when you’re dressing a baby, you have to be soft and gentle, just like with her doll.

You might also consider taking the time to teach her how to be mindful of the baby. Get a newborn baby carrier and have her help you put her doll in the carrier, teaching her how to be gentle with the doll’s head, arms and legs.

2. New Big Sister Book

There are plenty of books on the market that do a wonderful job of explaining what it means to be a big sister. Make her feel like royalty with this book and doll gift set, or give her a simple understanding of what’s to come with these classic children’s book. As the months progress in your pregnancy, take time to read these books and give her the opportunity to ask you questions.

3. New Babydoll Set

One classic idea is to get her a new babydoll to mother and take care of. There are plenty of options to choose from, as well as tons of accessories to help her really get into the spirit of things. Help her understand the importance of changing diapers, feeding bottles, and keeping her little one entertained with toys to her prepare her for her new little brother or sister.

4. Jewelry

Whoever said diamonds are a girl’s best friend was absolutely correct. If your little girl is a lover of all things shiny and girly, a new piece of jewelry could be the perfect gift to share the news with her. Consider a locket with an ultrasound photo in it that can be replaced with a picture of her new little brother or sister once they arrive, or a big sister charm bracelet.

5. Big Sister Hospital Bag

Put together a fun bag of goodies for your little girl to bring along with her when the time finally comes to meet her new little brother or sister. Include things like coloring books and crayons, snacks, a water bottle, a gift to give the baby, and be sure to put it all in an adorable tote that she can use over and over again! This is a great way to get her excited to come to the hospital and embrace this new life stage.
