Summer interiors edit for your family home

Summertime is the perfect time for sprucing up your home after the intense spring clean from a few weeks ago. Think of it as a refresh rather than a remodel. In this post, I have put together a few interior ideas that are both trendy but also timeless with a bit of fun on the side.

Statement sofa

Forget about having a brown, beige, grey or black leather sofa in your living room, replace it with a fun, brightly coloured chesterfield sofa instead.

Opting for a chesterfield design will offset the bright colour of the sofa. Chesterfields are quintessentially British antique designs that are both timeless and elegant. Modernising the classic design adds a fun twist to it, making it feel more relaxed and casual.

Bright neon shades are very much in at the moment. However, if a highlighter green sofa is a bit too much for yourself and your family consider plum, teal or mustard shades for your living room. You can then keep the rest of the room neutral or accented with a complementary colour.

Unconventional materials

Sometimes you’ve got to think outside the box when it comes to interior styling. If you like the look of rustic designs, pick a natural material such as wood and start playing with this material throughout your home.

Think old whiskey barrel turned into a coffee table, a mirror framed into a rustic, rough-cut wooden frame or a bathtub made out of wood.

These little unusual accents not only will make your home unique, but it is also a fantastic opportunity to support local small businesses that specialise in quirky products for your home.

Modern jungle

Another way to freshen up your home is to add pops of colour and bring a bit of life into your home by creating sort of an urban jungle in some of the rooms. This will be more of a long-term project as the plants will require some love and attention. However, there is an abundance of low maintenance plants that don’t need lots of sunlight or watering.

Adding plants to your home will also help with purifying the air in your home. However, be cautious about what kind of plants you get if you have pets or small children that might accidentally ingest some leaves or flower petals.

Creating an urban jungle will be exceptionally beautiful for your living room, hallways and staircases areas. If you can, add hanging plants in other rooms such as the bedrooms, kitchen or the study.
