How to Make Your Garden the Perfect Play Place for Kids

As it gets warmer outside, you will no doubt be encouraging your children to go out and enjoy the fresh air.  With TV, iPhones and all kinds of technology these days – that can be a much more difficult task than you’d think.  That’s why you need to make your garden somewhere they want to be. Here we discuss how to make your garden the perfect play place for kids.

Build a Tree House or Den

Kids love the idea of tree houses and dens.  To them, it’s a little sanctuary to have fun without parents watching every second. If you have a suitable area, why not spend a little bit of time this summer building a tree house?  This will be something fun for them to do, as well as a safe place for them to hang out, play some games, or maybe even read a book.

Have a Seating Area for Arts and Crafts

Arts and crafts are always a good idea and allows them to explore their creative side.  You will most likely have a seating area for entertaining or simply to relax out in the sun, why not have a designated space where they can do their arts and crafts without having to worry about getting too messy as they are outside?  They can even help create it.

Clear it Up

If you don’t spend lots of time in your garden as it is, or you have let it go over the last few months – make sure you take some time to spruce it up.  You may also want to make some room in your shed or garage for their garden toys. Have a rummage through and see what you could do without to make more room.

If there’s quite a bit of junk – use a company like 1-800-GOT-JUNK to take it away for you. It’s usually a convenient service and you can find exactly what they do or do not take on their site. Have look at their locations to see if they’re based where you are. At least this way, you can get started on clearing your garden and not have to worry about the removal of everything. This will ensure your garden is both safe and clear for the kid’s toys.

Get a Paddling Pool

If there is one thing that kids like in the summertime, it’s the thought of getting wet.  You may not want to invest in one of the larger pools, but you can get paddling pools of all shapes and sizes that will no doubt suit your budget.  Fill it with some of their favorite bath toys – and there is no doubt that they will be entertained for hours on end.

Create a Gardening Project

Although kids may think gardening is boring at first, it doesn’t need to be.  You could let them help you choose plants and take care of them with you, or you could even grow their favorite vegetables.  When they feel they have a little responsibility – they are much more likely to want to get involved. They can watch their own plants grow and be the ones to look after now and then.  It’s a good way to teach them responsibility too.

If you want to encourage your kids to spend more time indoors than in the house, then make sure you try out some of these ideas.
