Little Changes That Can Make a Big Difference to a Room

Most of us are tight on time. Often, it feels like there are not enough hours in the day. There always seems to be dirty laundry in the basket, washing up to do and a list of other tasks to complete. Unsurprisingly, many families struggle to find the time to redecorate and keep on top of DIY jobs. It can be tempting to just give up and just pretend you are trying out a shabby style of decor.

This is understandable. But by doing a few small jobs every week you can transform your home and keep it looking fresh and modern, without feeling overwhelmed. Here are a few ideas.

Update your skirting

Changing the colour of your baseboards is a job that normally only takes a few hours. Plus, you can do it, gradually, one run at a time. So, it is a task you can easily fit into your day. If you want a totally different look, instead you could buy some new bullnose skirting from this website or another supplier that delivers to your area.

If you like the colour and style of your existing skirting, it is well worth giving it a good clean and touching up any scuff marks. You will be surprised how much better your room looks when you have done this.

Use wall stickers and stencils

If you like the current colours of your walls, but want to make the room a bit more interesting, stencils make it super easy. You can easily download and print out a few. This only takes 15 or 20 minutes. Each stencil takes just a few minutes to apply to the wall. Stencilling is a job that you can leave partially done and come back to when you have a bit more time. If you have half an hour free you could do a dozen stencils, and finish the rest off later in the week. Plus, this is the sort of decorating task that the kids will love helping with.

Laminate flooring

If your floors need upgrading, laminate flooring is a very good option. It is relatively cheap, surprisingly easy to lay and does not take a lot of looking after. You really do not need any special skills or tools to install it. Once you get into a rhythm, it goes down very fast. Typically, you can renew your flooring in a bedroom, bathroom or kitchen in just a few hours. This article shows you how it is done. For a living room, you may need the whole day, but if you do it together it is possible to get it done in a long morning.

That´s it, with a few hours work, spread across a couple of weeks you can totally transform one of your rooms. A good approach is to do as much as you can to improve a single room, each month. By the end of the year, most families will have worked through every room and their garden and have totally transformed their home.
