So What’s this Blogging Thing About Anyway?

Blog

As a blogger, I often give tips about everything I have learned along the way, from tips for travelling with kids, to home life, and everything in between. For those of you out there who are thinking that you might want to try your hand at blogging, please read on, because this post is for you!

How To Start Blogging

First things first: start by figuring out the concept of your blog – what you really want to write about – and then begin to build up the idea from there. Sometimes figuring out the name can further solidify the concept. Once you have the name, then you need to buy the domain name– you can check here to see if the domain you want is available. After registering the domain name, choose the best blogging platform that you feel comfortable using. Learn the ins and outs of the platform and begin to fiddle with making the site look exactly the way that you want it to. Believe it or not, a lot of these site builders are incredibly user friendly and you can always go back in and make changes, so you don’t have to worry about it being a one-time shot to get it perfect the first time. If you find that your taste is changing along the way, then you can make edits to your overall design to complement your new taste. Once you have the site looking the way that you want it to, find a good company to host the site and begin writing and posting your content. You might even be able to make money blogging! Yup, it’s that easy!

Last Bit of Advice

If you’re unsure of whether blogging is actually for you, then what I suggest is starting one on a free blogging platform – like Blogger or one of the free WordPress packages – and try it out for a couple of months to see what it’s like. Then if you feel like you want to take it to the next level, you can go about investing in a more personalised webspace. Happy blogging!
