Carrying Kit in Style with a Caboodle (Plus Competition)

Caboodle Fun & Funky Black Stars on White

We’ve tested out a fair few changing bags during the last two decades of parenting. Styles and designs may vary but our criteria is fairly consistent; they need to be spacious, offer adequate organisation and be easy to clean. They also need to be able to withstand constant heavy use.

This was our first time testing out a product from Caboodle Bags so we were keen to see how they would fare. The company has grown over the last 25 years providing flexible working to meet the needs of the parents working within it, and a range of high-quality products designed to meet the needs of parents worldwide.

We took delivery of the award-winning Fun & Funky Changing Bag which is available in a choice of four designs: black, grey stars, black stars and mink stars. We opted for the black – Caboodle’s logo sitting discreetly on one side of the plain oilcloth outer ensured that the brand was making its mark without overshadowing the overall design of the bag. The red zip with orange tags provided a splash of colour that I would not normally go for when choosing a bag, my usual preference being a completely plain colour. Unexpectedly, I quite liked the way they stood out and made the bag look a little more eye-catching than it would otherwise have done. An open pocket sat at each end of the bag both of which were covered by a flap, and a short carry handle is securely stitched on each side. A longer shoulder handle is contained within the bag.

Inside, the bag proved fairly impressive. Large and roomy indeed its capacity seems even greater once the base is inserted to stabilise the bottom of the bag. The interior of the bag contains a neutral grey fabric patterened with a simple geometric style along the lines of a Greek key design. The changing bag offers help in keeping everything organised. A large, zipped compartment runs along one side of the bag while three elastic-topped pockets line the opposite side. A further deep pocket sits at one end of the bag also.

One thing that always swings the balance in my favour when it comes to any kind of bag is a key-holder. The number of times I find myself rummaging around a bag – especially one of such great capacity – is beyond measure. Even pockets don’t often help me, I’m afraid. I’m one of those people often so rushed or distracted that I automatically pop the keys in wherever they end up, despite my efforts to aim for a pocket. The key-holder always helps me out but unfortunately was the one thing I would have liked to have seen that was lacking in the design. I suppose the thinking is that the bag is designed to be a changing bag, not a handbag, but I don’t always want to take two bags out so I do feel this would be a useful feature to add.

The bag fitted most of the criteria we normally look for when it comes to changing bags. The oilcloth makes it wonderfully easy to wipe clean, attention has been given to quality and detail and it certainly provided ample storage. Obviously we are unable to comment on its longevity as yet so we are keen to see how it withstands plenty of constant use over time.

The accessories included with it – the wipe-clean changing mat, the plastic messy bag and the insulated bottle bag – are a thoughtful addition which we find extremely useful to keep to hand. We also loved the added extra touch of the plastic covering bag that the changing bag arrived in which not only ensured it was kept in the best condition possible on delivery but could also be used on its own as a storage bag.

Overall, we thought the Fun & Funky Changing Bag by Caboodle Bags proves itself to be a fantastic choice providing excellent value for money with it retailing at £40.00.

  1. Seems like quite a few compers are still not reading the rules of entry. Sharing, retweeting and ‘liking’ are not ways of entering the competition. Please can you stop reading the comp sites and enter properly.

  2. I have just completed all 4 entries and keeping my fingers crossed! Twin babies due on Christmas day and this lovely bag will be SO useful. Thank you for the chance x
