A conversation between a priest and a seven year old

Last week a priest quite unfamiliar to our family was taking an evening mass which Mike, Caitlin and Harry attended.

Cait and Harry were seated at the front and during one part the priest mentioned the act of talking to one another.

He looked down at Harry and so the conversation went…

Priest (addressing the children at the front): “…and when you’re at school you talk to your friends, don’t you?”

Harry: “We don’t go to school.”

Priest (puzzled): “You don’t?”

Harry:No. We are home-schooled. We learn at home”

Priest: “Oh! And is it just you and your sister?”

Harry: “No, there’s Sid…”

Priest: “So there are at least three of you?”

Harry: *says nothing*

Priest continues: “And do you talk to each other?”

Harry: “No.”

Priest: “You don’t talk to your brother and sister?”

Harry: “No”

Priest: “Why not?”

Harry: “Because we have to do our work!”

  1. Doyou just love the way that kids can take control… even when they don't mean to? It sounds as if the priest was not getting quite the response he was hoping for. I hope it didn't mess up what he was trying to illustrate. LOL

By the way, I'm trying to help a newbie get followers, so I'm having a drawing over at my place. In case you're interested in checking it out, here's the link: An Update And A Drawing

  2. Fab – well done that boy – adults like the priest should know never to work with animals and kids – mucked his talk right up by the sounds of it LOL! And in such a wonderful way.
