Why Florida Should be on Your Top Destination for the Summer

They don’t call Florida the sunshine state for nothing. This place is inarguably one of the best places to go to during summer, not just because of its exceptional weather but because of the host of activities it has to offer.

If you have no idea where to go this break or you’re still on the fence about visiting Florida, these reasons might just convince you that the state is indeed THE place to go for summer.

 

1. Theme parks

Whether you’re traveling with children or you just want to ignite that kid in you, there’s a theme park in Florida that you and your family are sure to enjoy. The most popular one is the Universal Orlando Resort. Next to it is SeaWorld and Disney World. Take your pick and spend your sunny days here in these fun wonderlands.

 

2. Beaches

Florida’s peninsula is enveloped with soft white sand. Sunbathe here, read a book, or just enjoy the view of the ocean. If it gets too hot, just jump into the teal blue waters to cool down. You can party all day long along in Daytona Beach. But if you’d like to be somewhere quieter, Fort Myers beach might be more ideal for you. Other beaches you can visit include Ponte Vedra, Miami Beach, and Siesta Key.

 

3. Water activities

You can go further into the beaches and actually partake in water activities such as fishing, boating, snorkeling, and scuba diving. The best way to really get the most out of the water here is by renting a boat. Borrow it for a day or a few days and do as you please in the ocean whether it’s having a picnic, tanning, drinking, or you know, jumping off your boat into the water, just having a really good time.

 

4. Wildlife

Florida is home to a rich wildlife. Don’t be surprised if you spot crocodiles, panthers, dolphins, manatees, turtles, or zebras in their reserve. If you’re in the mood to do some sightseeing of these animals, simply visit one of their wildlife centers and book a tour.

 

 

5. Golf

Did you know that Florida is actually home to thousands of golf courses? If you play golf, this place will be like paradise for you. Even if you’re just a beginner, you won’t have a hard time selecting a course that will suit your skill level.

 

6. Food

Florida’s cuisine features a rich mix of cultures and people. Aside from the abundance of delicious seafood, you’ll find influences from the Caribbean, Cajun, and Creole. It’s a diverse selection that keep your taste buds busy for the rest of your stay here.

 

 

7. Nightlife

If you’re looking to spice up your vacation, partaking in the nightlife is definitely a must! The parties in Florida never stop, especially in Miami Beach. It’s lined with nightclubs and open-air clubs that will have you enjoying the beach atmosphere even in the evenings. Other excellent areas for night adventures include Fort Lauderdale, Ybor City, and Pleasure Island.

Are you into gambling? You might just be able to find a casino near your area. Some of the most popular ones in Florida include Miccosukee Resort & Gaming and Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

 

8. Shopping

Florida’s malls were made to be visited by tourists. It’s a great mix of cheap and high-end boutiques that cater to all budgets. Aside from the mall, you’ll find an abundance of shops and outlets scattered across the state.

 

 

9. Culture

Florida is more than just its beaches and amusement parks. Culture vultures will find their fair share of fun here as the state is also home to some really great museums, art galleries, gardens, and retro shops.

There’s the Salvador  Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg which houses the famous surrealist painters artworks. If you’d like an introduction to the state’s hispanic roots, visit St. Augustine which is supposed to be the oldest city in the U.S. Other places you can visit for some culture exploration include Hemingway House in Key West, the Native American Reservations, and NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.
