There is nowhere in the world more idyllic than the Caribbean. Golden sandy beaches lined by palm trees swaying in the wind, turquoise waters and a relaxed way of life is all found in this beautiful part of the world and it is somewhere that everybody should visit at some point in their life.

A great way to explore the Caribbean and see it is all its glory is with a cruise, which will take you to a handful of exotic islands. Here are a few of the best places to visit on a Caribbean cruise.

Barbados

Perhaps the first place to spring to mind when discussing the Caribbean, Barbados is an incredibly beautiful island that features 70 miles of gorgeous beaches. In addition to the beaches, Barbados also features the vibrant capital city of Bridgetown, verdant surroundings, epic caves and a wonderful culture to soak up. Finally, it is also the birthplace of rum, so be sure to sample the local produce during your stop-off!

Antigua

Antigua is famed for being one of the sunniest islands in the Caribbean and for having some of the finest beaches in the world, making it an ideal place for relaxing and catching some sun. It also has some fascinating history and culture to enjoy, including the large capital city of St John’s where you will find Fort James and dozens of great pubs, restaurants and shops.

St Lucia

You will be in awe as you sail towards the beautiful island of St Lucia thanks to its thick greenery and vast mountains, dominated by the iconic Les Pitons twin peaks (be sure to have your camera ready). The island itself has serene beaches and plenty of scuba diving opportunities, as well many hiking or biking trails for the more active types.

Grenada

One of the first things that you will notice about Grenada is the intoxicating smell of nutmeg and other spices. Often called “Spice Island”, Grenada grows the most spice per square mile than anywhere else in the world. In addition to the wonderful aromas, you can also enjoy relaxing on the beach and taking in views of the pretty harbour, or explore the port and capital city of St George’s – here you will find colonial buildings set within a volcanic crater.

A Caribbean cruise will be an unforgettable experience and a superb way to see the different islands, all of which have their own distinctive personalities, histories and cultures to experience.
