Review: Spin Mania

Harry was quick to dub this game ‘The Best Game in the World!” and so this is now what Spin Mania is known as in this house.

Spin Mania by Drumond Park Games is a fun game of concentration and speed where a steady hand wins.  It isn’t dissimilar to the old plate spinning trick but is much less messy and noisy, allowing mum to keep her best china and relying on plastic discs instead.

Recommended for ages six and up, Spin Mania requires each player to take turns to place each of the orange rotary discs on the Spinning Machine.  As the plates spin the player needs to keep their focus and not give in to distraction, keeping a steady hand and nerves of steel to lift each plate off the Machine and place them onto each disc’s stand.  Go back and repeat until all discs are hopefully spinning happily but make sure you are quick!  You don’t want to run out of time!

Challenge the rest of the family to find the fastest spin maniac!  Then when you’re finding that you’re a dab hand up the challenge by placing each of the stands in strategic places around the room.  How easy is it to win when you have to crawl under the table whilst balancing the spinning disc on the hook?  Or if you have to manoeuvre it into a narrow nook?  Are you still up for the challenge then?

We have found this game both hilarious to play and a great way to encourage the younger ones to work on their concentration and patience.  Combine our family’s terrible competitiveness along with Harry’s obvious knack for the game and the challenges have become wilder and wilder!  We have yet to beat him.  It’s no wonder Harry insists calling it by it’s alias of ‘The Best Game in the World’ rather than Drumond Park’s given name of ‘Spin Mania’.

Spin Mania (rrp. £22.99) is available from all good retailers from September onwards so you’ve plenty of time to line up your Christmas party fun.

We have two games to give away.  For your chance to win click over to our Spin Mania competition and answer the question!
