Summer is officially here, but if you’re living in fear of bearing the bod, don’t panic. Follow these confidence boosting tips and you’ll soon be proud of the skin you’re in.
Work out and eat up
We hear it time and again, but combining exercise with a healthy, balanced diet is the best way of looking after your body and starting to feel better about yourself. Ditch the yoyo diet and opt for three meals a day, choosing healthy foods and plenty of fresh produce. Avoid bloating foods and quaff at least two litres of water a day to keep your skin healthy and insides ticking away. Walk for at least 30 minutes a day and try swimming or cycling to get your heart rate going.
Go with the glow
Healthy looking skin can be your best asset when you’re in the buff. Exfoliate regularly, cleanse, tone and moisturise. Resist the urge to bake in the heat – go for tinted moisturiser or fake tan instead – wouldn’t you rather look like a nicely ripened peach than a sun-dried tomato?
Beware the hair
De-fuzzing your armpits, legs and bikini line is bound to make you feel better. With plenty of quick, painless hair removal options available, there’s no excuse for ‘gorilla’ tactics.
Straighten up
Focus on your posture and you’ll look better in seconds – just imagine there’s a taut string running all the way through your body from the base of your spine to the top of your head – lift your chin, drop your shoulders, straighten your back and tuck in your tum.
Show off
Identify your best features and make the most of them, while directing attention away from areas you’re less happy with. Position yourself at a diagonal and you’ll appear slimmer. Try a hand on the hip, an arch of the back, a pointing of the toes and crossing of the legs.
Heaven scent
Safe in the knowledge that you smell sumptuous, you’re sure to feel more confident. Never forget to wear deodorant and get lavish with body lotion, spray or perfume.
Undress…then dress for success
Strip off and stand in front of a mirror. Don’t run away. Everyone has good points so it’s a question of working out what they are and finding clothes that suit your shape. Appreciate your curves and treat yourself to some plus size lingerie. A quick search online for plus size dresses uk and you’ll be sure to find something in a colour and style that suits you. Once you’re clad in the right outfit you’ll be on your way to feeling a million dollars.
Lighten up
Few people look good under the glare of fluorescent strip lighting. Illuminate the room with soft, glowing lamps and candles and sit with lighting behind you to tone down any flaws.
Get lippy
Don’t go overboard on the slap, but a touch of makeup, cleverly applied, can do wonders for your confidence. Try lipstick that’s one shade darker than your natural tone and use a balm or gloss. For a natural flush, choose a light blusher.
Follow these easy feel-good fixes and you’ll be off to a flying start this summer.
