Katie Holmes: A Passion for Fashion

(This is an advertorial)

Gossip mongers will be broken hearted to hear that former Dawson’s Creek actress, Katie Holmes, and Hollywood’s highest earning actor, Tom Cruise, have “amicably” settled their divorce agreement.

Unfortunately, the third time was not a charm for Tom, who has previously been married to, and divorced, Oscar-winning actress, Nicole Kidman and Mimi Rogers.

Their marriage began in November 2006; the service taking place in a luxurious Italian castle. Anti-scientologists protested heavily about their wedding plans, urging Katie to “run.” A “Free Katie” campaign started soon after their engagement.

Now, after many years of silence, Katie is revamping her personal life and career by creating new projects in the fashion industry and theatre. She remains strong amid the circling media, hoping to prey on any visible weakness in lieu of the split.

Pictures of Katie shopping in public with her six-year-old daughter, Suri, show that she is refusing to hide, amongst speculation that there was something suspect about their quick divorce.

Katie has successfully ensured full custody of Suri, whilst granting Tom substantial visiting rights, and in a public statement said: “We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests.”

“We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents.”

Fashion

Through an innovative decision to pursue a career in fashion, Katie has teamed up with long-term stylist and friend, Jeanne Yang, to create the line Holmes & Yang. Their label is due to air in September, during the prestigious New York Fashion Week.

And Katie doesn’t take a backseat role in the partnership either – she’s on hand to advise in fittings, photo shoots, and design meetings. Their aim is to provide functional but elegant clothes, targeted at stylish, business mothers, who need to be in the office one minute, and looking after a child the next.

Katie told the New York Times: ‘We know that women are on the go and do a lot of different sorts of things all in one day. Hopefully, [Holmes & Yang] helps to provide them with some confidence in attacking all those different roles.’

As a confident, individual mother herself, Katie is the perfect spearhead for this chic mission. Seen wearing her own brand dresses around New York City, we think Katie’s new look would be complete, with some fantastic accessories from costume jewellery online.

Acting

Just when you thought Katie’s last big appearance was so 2005, with her feature in the popular movie, Batman Begins, Katie is back with plans to begin filming Molly – a film she co-wrote and co-produced – next week.

After that flick is in the bag, Katie is off to romcom territory with co-star, and Gossip Girl prince, Chace Crawford. Responsible Adults sees him battle with the revelation that his latest love interest in fact babysat for him 15 years ago.

Watch this space. Katie might just surprise you.
