The Essential Baby Care Guide is a 4 DVD series produced by the Essential Parent Company in an effort to provide new parents with a helpful, visual source of advice and information on caring for their new baby.
Using the advice provided by a number of sources including St John Ambulance, The Royal College of Paediatrics, UNICEF and Professor Lord Robert Winston who also hosts the series, each 2 hour DVD covers a different aspect of parenting and baby care in depth and detail.
The four DVDs provide step by step visual instructions and advice giving parents the opportunity to gain the advice they would receive from attending a workshop or class without the expense or the time and hassle to do so.
The first DVD covers feeding, the second covers baby care and development, the third offers advice on sleeping and the fourth and one we personally found the most useful covered first aid.
Each subject is approached in a calm and very non-judgemental way. For example the DVD on feeding not only covers breast feeding support and advice in easy to understand and concise detail but also offers support and advice to parents who have chosen to formula feed. I felt this approach to be very reassuring and felt it would be useful to the viewer to have advice available on different parenting techniques and choices that may be different to their own.
The DVDs can be bought individually for £10 each or as a complete set for £35.00 and are available from John Lewis, Amazon and the Essential Parent website.
