The Auction Begins!

It’s the first day of May and that means the Larger Family Life Auction to Help Oliver Walk kicks off today!  Here are some details on how the auction will work and some other Q & A’s.

Why is Larger Family Life supporting Help Oliver Walk?

You can read Oliver’s story here but if you wanted the reason for the auction in a nutshell it is this: Oliver has spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy and is unlikely to walk unless he receives an operation.  The op is not carried out here in the UK but only in the US, and whilst Oliver has been given the opportunity to have the operation done, his parents need to raise £72,000 in order to make it possible.

This is very close to my heart as Danielle, Oliver’s mother, and I used to work together once upon a time and she and her husband Barry are truly one of the nicest couples you are ever likely to meet and I really, really would like this auction to be a success.

Who has provided the auction items?

Since March I have been busily speaking with brands, businesses and companies trying to drum up support for our Help Oliver Walk Auction.  The response has been amazing and so many companies and individuals have been extremely generous in donating items to auction.  Unfortunately, a few have let me down but, thanks to the generosity of so many, we have not only been able to meet my target of one item to auction a day but some days we will be able to auction more than one item.  The more we have the more money we can raise, after all!

Every item is brand new and ready to go to their new owners as soon as they can.  Some will be sent directly from the companies and some will be send by Larger Family Life.

How will the Help Oliver Walk Auction work?

Every morning at 10am a new item will go up for auction on www.largerfamilylife.com.  The auction will run for 24 hours, ending the following day at 10am on the dot.  Within those 24 hours I would love to see as many bids as possible in the comments section of each item’s post.

Please, please don’t hold back and please donate generously.  You will receive something you or someone you know will love and you will know that you’ve helped a great cause at the same time.  It’s the best form of guilt-free shopping you can do!

At the end of each auction I will announce the winner and be in touch with them for payment, if they haven’t already done so.  Payment must be made to the Paypal address: family@largerfamilylife.com so that, 1) I can keep track of who has paid for what before the items are sent out and, 2) We can hand over a (hopefully huge) amount at the end of the auction in one lump sum.

I am not in the UK.  Can I join in?

Unfortunately we are unable to ship overseas so you can’t join in the auction.  If you’d like to support our auction with a donation which will go straight to Oliver as part of our end lump sum you can do so by Paypal to family@largerfamilylife.com.   Alternatively you can donate directly to Help Oliver Walk via the Paypal address helpoliverwalk@yahoo.co.uk.

Is it too late to donate an item for auction?

Not at all!  If you would like to do so please contact me at family@largerfamilylife.com.  As I said earlier, the more we have to auction the more money we can raise for Oliver!

How else can I support the Help Oliver Walk Auction?

We would love you to spread the word as much as you can.  Use Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, use your blogs and websites and word of mouth too.  There are “share” buttons above and below each post.  Please use them as much as you can.

Where can I find out more about Oliver and Help Oliver Walk?

You can visit Oliver’s website here: www.helpoliverwalk.co.uk

Well, I think that’s about it and we’re just about ready!

Please come back at 10am for our first auction item and get ready to bid so we can Help Oliver Walk!
